The Professional Koi Dealers Association's primary concern is that its members are active to positively progress and safeguard the enjoyment of the Koi Keeping public. Its members are committed to the highest attainable standards in the holding of koi for sale and in their advice to koi keepers. The dealers have agreed to show loyalty to their customers and have regard for their wishes; it is however fish health and welfare considerations that are the primary consideration of members of the association.
The Member Dealers have agreed to use all of their skills to maintain this primary consideration and are responsible for their professional development, by undertaking supervision, conferring with colleagues, and acquiring knowledge of new theory and practice through further training and study. The Association has been formed to help in this sharing of knowledge and experience. Member Dealers have accepted the need to monitor their competence and be aware of the necessity to consult with colleagues or to refer to a competent dealer with a suitable discipline from within the association on specific issues.
Member dealers have agreed to be guided by ethical principles in all matters regarding professional practice, and to conduct their business with integrity and dignity. While realising the principle of free enterprise and competitive trading, dealers realise the uniqueness of the koi hobby and have agreed to support and assist each other in their understanding of the continuously changing problems of the koi world.
It is the aim of the PKDA through these principles and joint dealer effort to promote the knowledge and enthusiasm in the Keeping of Koi.
