The formation of the PKDA gave Koi-keepers the opportunity to purchase not just Koi but all the items required for their support and well-being, from specialist centres that operate to a Code of Practice. This ensured a reliable service and gave every customer the right of complaint, which in turn keeps industry standards high.
When the Association set up a Biosecurity Scheme approved by the regulatory authorities for their members this offered hobbyists a new dimension in safety when purchasing Koi, and it was hoped that all members would ultimately become biosecure.
